Cranmore’s Big Charity Cycle smashes £3k target

A team of riders from NI software specialists Cranmore has completed an epic 267-kilometer bike ride for charity.
The three-day Cranmore Big Charity Cycle concluded on September 29, raising £3,620 (at the time of writing) for the charity Action for Children, smashing the team’s £3,000 target.
The cycle team consisted of Cranmore’s Managing Director Chris Price, Operations Director Heather McCook, Solutions Director Enda Reynolds, Developer Michael Shorten, Sales Director Fergus McGrath, and Marketing Director Damien Whinnery.
Setting off from the company’s office in Holywood Co Down on Friday 26 September, the riders made the 107km journey to Castlerock for day one.
Day two involved crossing from Magilligan to Greencastle by ferry before traversing Donegal’s Inishowen peninsula in extremely wet conditions to the Lough Swilly Marina.
There the riders were whisked across the lough by generous volunteers at the marina to Rathmullan, concluding a day’s ride of 70km.
The final day saw the riders head south through Letterkenny, Convoy, Castlederg and onwards to their final destination, Enniskillen, clocking a total of 267km for the entire journey.
“The generosity we’ve experienced has been incredible and we’re delighted to have smashed our £3,000 target for this important charity,” said Chris Price. “The donations were beyond our expectations, while the generosity of the people we met along the way was hugely inspiring and kept us going to the end.”
The team received a steady stream of support and donations throughout their demanding journey, all helping them achieve their intended distance and fundraising target.

“It was an amazing adventure,” said Heather McCook. “The support and goodwill we’ve received has meant a lot to us all.
“Throughout the three days, we encountered so many people who wanted to contribute, whether donating or freely giving up their time to help us out of tricky situations and, more than once, saving the day.
“We also have to thank the friends and family that gave us so much support and encouragement, and the staff of Cranmore who donated and cheered us on.”
Commenting on Cranmore’s success, a spokesperson for Action for Children said: “Incredible! Thank you so much to every single one of you for the amazing support… and your dedication to raising vital funds for vulnerable families. We really appreciate it.”
The total donated currently stands at £3,620 but totals £4,364 when Gift Aid contributions are included.
